Things We're Proud Of...

Adela Road Sensory Garden
Beat4autism worked in partnership with HMS Raliegh, who kindly provided many recruits to support this project. Together we created a sensory area that included plants for the 5 senses, stepping stones, fruit trees, a sensory path and a beautiful hand drawn mural on the wall. We made it a sustainable area by placing water butts in the area to encourage the community to take care and water the plants.
This area was to create a peaceful outdoor experience to help ground an individual when the world becomes too overwhelming.

Our Books
Neurodivergent Me and Dear Autism Diary were created over a 3 year period as 'coffee table' style tools to help people along their neurodiverse journey.
The diary helps parents/carers to see behaviour patterns and monitor how their own behaviour and approaches can impact their responses. It also aids in documenting day-to-day behaviours/routines/patterns to help with the diagnosis process, form-filling and accessing support.

Masquerade Ball
Saturday 5th April 2025 saw Beat4autism host our first ever masquerade ball. The purpose of having our guests wear masks was to highlight how uncomfortable it can be for many autistic individuals who mask on a day-today basis.
It also saw the launch of Beat4autisms annual Community Awards, where we celebrate the unsung heroes whose great work often flys under the radar.
It was also a great opportunity to get all dressed up and have right good shindig too!
Next masquerade ball is scheduled for 26th March 2026 - See you there

Work Experience
We offer a variety of work experience opportunities, like longterm placements for Oakwood College students and temporary placements for Senior School students from Torpoint Community College and Liskeard school. We quite often have Duke of Edinburgh students spend some time in our shop too

Community Secret Santa
We have many customers through our doors at our shop each day, all with differing circumstances. Not all people have sensory or SEN requirements, some have financial difficulty or mental health concerns.
We recognised that many feel at a loss around the festive period. We wanted people to feel appreciated and cared for - so we launched our Secret Santa. We had a box for donated gifts, and a box for nominations. Our bank of very caring volunteers then delivered all the wonderful gifts that was donated by our customers, to peoples homes in the community on Christmas Eve.
We are proud that we started this project and now the wider community has taken this tradition on and it continues to lift spirits during the festive season.

PLAY 4 AUTISM
PLAY 4 AUTISM is a place where parents/carers can enjoy a hot drink and a bacon roll, but more importantly, network with likeminded people in a non-judgemental environment and share experiences/tips/tricks with others...all whilst their children get to socialise and communicate with each other, have fun and play with various toys/games and engage in different activities.
